Right, quite simply, I’m going to say this. Curves and softness on a girl? They’re beautiful. And what I’m sick of seeing, what saddens me, is girls absolutely pulling themselves to pieces simply because they’ve got a little pudge on their tummy, or they’re anything larger than a size 8. Is there anything wrong with being a size 8? Not really. But it’s not some sort of godly ideal that all girls should aspire to be. You’d think it was though, what with society banging on the way it does, and it’s fanatical obsession with weight is what’s unhealthy, not simply being a size 12 or above.

Every day, in the magazines, on the internet, in the newspapers, on the television, we are bombarded with ads for weight loss, effectively brainwashing the lot of us into fitting the perfect little weight mould. And those who are outside of it just get ostracised, mocked, and hated on for no good reason. It’s just another form of bigotry, and it makes me sick. Heck, I’m the opposite myself. I’m a lanky, pale, effeminate stick, and people hate on me because I’m not enough of a ‘man’. I don’t care what they think, because I am me, and I have learned to embrace who I am. I love girls, and I like my pretty long hair, so screw 'em.

People often say that ‘fat’ girls are repulsive. ‘Why?’, I ask. What exactly makes them repulsive? Have they ever actually THOUGHT about what they are saying, what they are feeling? Because maybe, just maybe, deep down inside, they don’t actually hate it at all, but they only think they do because society’s anti-fat bombardment has tricked them to such a degree they can’t even tell the damn difference. Look at the past, when curvier ladies were celebrated, and heck, curvier ladies are still celebrated in some countries today. Why do we now seem to ‘instinctively’ hate fat then, when we didn’t before? Strange, isn’t it? Just think about it.

Me, personally? I think that some pudge on the tummy is gorgeous. To me, it’s cute, and pretty, and sexy, and feminine. And a girl shouldn’t be sitting there alone in the corner crying her heart out because she feels ugly and rejected just because she’s a little chubby, or heck, of average weight, or even larger weight! So I made this stamp so girls could feel proud of themselves, and people could use it as a badge of honour in the face of oppression. And I said these words, in the hope of opening people’s minds more, and showing my support for fighting against this ridiculous social stigma.

Power to the Pudge. =)

I read all that you wrote and I totally agree. You put in words what many of us think but could never express correctly. Very cool! I think I would have made the girl a bit bigger but other than that I really love the stamp. You did a great job! Thanks so much for the link and for spreading the love!:blowkiss:

 Thank you very much! :blushes: Your own stamp and words were quite inspiring to me. I did the best job that I could with my own words, and I made my stamp bright and happy looking to make it nice and positive. :D Girls need to really know that curves and tummies are beautiful and not something to cry about having. :)

Awww, thanks so much for the compliment, hun! :D I'm so please that you found it inspiring!

Yeah, I agree, too many women have been brainwashed by the media into thinking that if they aren't a size 8 or smaller then they should do everything in their power to become so. It's crazy and makes so that only 8% or less of the population can actually fell happy with who they are and what they look like.

People often say that ‘fat’ girls are repulsive. ‘Why?’, I ask. What exactly makes them repulsive?

Somewhat of a psychological answer that everyone hates to think about:

1. Before the 1950s women were largely viewed as curves are better, in 1960s twiggy became the first fashion model to be revered for having a small frame - What happened between 1950 and 1960 that changed women in society? the feminist moment, all of a sudden women were designing the majority of women's clothes, not men. Since then, models have been getting smaller and smaller, why? Because the majority of women find a man aesthetically pleasing - not a women, thats why most models look so androgynous in fashion magazines.

2. Men are more likely to fine repetitive visual images more sexually stimulating (for women its repetitive thought), Harvard did a case study a couple of years ago in their psychology department. Frankly, because models are are repetitively small men (in general) will start to like them more and more.

its not the women themselves thats the problem, its the coverage of these women in the mass media - if all of a sudden all women on TV gained another 30kgs (and GOD some of them SHOULD!!!) then men will find this more attractive.

anyway, sorry for the rant, I've been studying this issue for a long time. Thanks for the stamp, I'm going to put it in my journal :)

So it's a combination of feminism and visual repetition that caused this? Interesting. Yeah, it's ingrained in the mind from a young age... as well as them purposely linking being overweight with being unhealthy to force their point.

Heck, I remember being taught about health in school/etc, and they go and use an overweight person as the image. How convenient that they don't go and use a more slender person.

"if all of a sudden all women on TV gained another 30kgs (and GOD some of them SHOULD!!!) then men will find this more attractive."- oh GODS, that would break their minds. I do agree indeed. :)

Thank you for the rant, actually- I love gaining more knowledge about these things. And thank you very much for adding my stamp to your journal! It means a lot to me.

well so far its the most liable answer I can find, sheer ignorance is probably a major cause as well lol.

I remember those pictures in school, I always remember thinking "but my family is healthy, and they're overweight", and most of the really unhealthy people I know are complete twigs O_o

Anytime, I love promoting a pro-size view, if you ever come up with any others, let me know and I'll add them as well :)
